Suggestion

Hello.

I was playing in deathmatch server eralier and i saw that server got in chat some "Tips" showing a helpful rules about what's not allowed. For example


Tip: Mic/text spam will result in a silence.

Tip: Racism, inappropriate topics etc are not allowed.
etc etc

I think it will be really helpful for new players. And it will remind players to keep doing the right thing what do you think?

Edit: the Tip should show every like 10 or 15 min you guys decide what's best.
and this suggestion should be especially on Jailbreak as it's the most popular server in Hell.

 

I think this is a great idea.

I cant think of any negatives to this at all. Other than someones time to implement it.

 

Yeah i think the plugins have them but they only need to set them up not sure.

I really hope we can get something new added not just an ignored suggestions.

Would be kinda "spammed" in my opinion. Imagine playing for 2 hours on the server seeing that message poppin up 8 times. I think it will get annoying.

There is a !rules and !motd command as well to see al the rules. Tell this to new players and for further questions just send em here to forums.

Why solve something that is already clear and stated on a lot places.

 

I agree with Suicide, if you see new players you can link them aswell to those links. And if they still don't understand a rule or something else just link them to the forums or to an SU/Clan member/PA's and they will handle it.

Thanks for the suggestion, but in my eyes it wouldn't be good as we have almost everyday admins on the servers. And it will indeed be spamming and it will annoy others to see that link everytime on their screens.

I also use a admin bind lately, where it says the following: New players, please type !rules, !guide, !motd to learn the server rules and understand the gamemode.

 

How will 3 messages every 10 15 or even 30 minutes spam? it wouldn't be a spam. Don't you guys know how many people spam their lenny faces, binds etc etc i don't think this will effect anything at all just like Jacob mentioned "I cant think of any negatives to this at all".

Am gonna be honest here and say what ive been seen everyday. Admins are sleeping it's like they kinda think they doesn't have to do anything when player's breaks rules because there is another admins on the server they are depending on each others which is very annoying just yesterday an obvious new breaking rule ct was freekilling armory camping breaking rules and he got away with a lot of things and there was about 3 pa and 1 hell member and no one noitced him or they ignored it to the other admins. but then when admins saw players complain they went spec and dealt with it. Not like the good old days back in 2016 Admins were very sharp and cautious you know what i mean. Now my point is this "Tips" that's gonna be posted in chat will really help new players like i said and point them to the right derictions for example !rules !motd visit the hell clan website etc.

 

Why do you think most gmod servers show you the rules on the loading screen. Most other CSS servers will show you one random rule in chat every 5 minutes or so.

It's because new players will not actively look for the rules of a server.

 

Why didn't you record it and report it to a SU/Clan member, or report him/her in the report section. Admins can't see everything sometimes, we are human too...

So you mean like messages in game, saying what? Or do you really mean something like a csay message, on the middle of your screen?

 

I know admins are human and ive seen a lot of admins say that my point is if they choosed to be one then maybe the should be more sharp and watch players careful instead of relying on each others. It will take me some time to report a players upload videos to youtube trim etc steamid and people want to enjoy their time while the server is full. Now i don't mind doing all that just sayin if there is admins then we shoudn't report because if we do report hell members will say "why didn't you contact admin in admin chat" well even if we do there is no point because admins didn't see it.

No no not on the screen just in the chat a text showing tips that's all.

 

So @kenny7 I think what Waleed is suggesting is Every 10 minutes or so, something like this would be put in chat.
"Rule: Hackers/Cheaters will be permanently banned without warning, period. No exceptions."
or
"Rule: No Pornographic images in sprays."

 

Yes and something like Tip: if you have been banned/muted visit hellclan.co.uk and apply for unabn.
or Tip: visit hellclan.co.uk to report players breaking rules.
you know like just a bit of upgrade

You have different messages in chat with a delayed time between each and the loop restarts when all messages has been shown.

What i try to do is to guide new players to !rules !motd !guide which is really help full. I understand that messages in chat would be help full, but also they might be gone in all spam and other things in chat. Also many are not even reading the chat.

I know i see admins telling players to type !rules !motd but the chat commands will be more helpful trust me it's not a real of spam ive seen it in servers after i saw it once in deathmatch server i kept playing and checked if the re is something wrong with it and yeah it will be a bit of spam but not a big deal bcause u can manage the time u want it to be and we r not gonna add a tons of messages in the chat just the important once you know

Yes it is needed to remind players to do the right thing mate and to direct the new players to the right directions.

So what are we gonna get something new added or no just an ignored thread? What's the point of the Suggestions forum if we can't get something as simple as that added.

 

I said it's a good idea but its not needed, firstly players may think they are being warned from the admin if the chat is randomly saying rules, secondly if a player doesn't know the rules, a single rule in chat won't change that, they will have to type rules no matter what. It's much more efficient the system they have now which is telling the player to type !rules or !motd as it reminds players to check all the rules.

 

And that's part of the "Tips" chat will auto say Tip: Type !rules !motd !guide for better understanding of the jb/ctside/Tside etc or what ever best.

They will not think its from an admin because the colour of the text will be green or something diffrent that will interest them and makes them read and it will say "Tip"

 

Imo this is the way to go. It lets players know where to find rules and a guide while it also not coming off as a warning +1
