whenever I try to play demos nowadays and I try to jump to a specific tick it always crashes on me, usually putting an error in console like "unknown identity" or some shit. Has anyone else been encountering this issue lately? Could it be something related to me switching to windows 10 recently? Anyone know how to fix it? Would appreciate some feedback, thanks. Code: Host_Error: CL_PreserveExistingEntity: missing client entity 1533.
Same problem. Host_Error: CL_PreserveExistingEntity: missing client entity 64. Before if I wanted to skip ticks the screen would go black for a few seconds then end up on the tick I wanted. Instead it now like fast-forwards really fast for half a second so you can see the video going fast and then it crashes.
Try turning off decals and see if it makes any difference. So when you launch CSS, type in console r_decals 0 and then type playdemo <name>. See if you can reproduce the crash.
Host_Error: CL_PreserveExistingEntity: missing client entity 1533. Still happens when I put r_decals 0 Also I failed to state this earlier but when this happens it crashes on every demo until I restart css. I even tried joining a server but it still crashes with that message. For now the only way around this for me is to put the demo on 6x speed and let it run until I get to the point I need to. Any other suggestions? Feel free to post a huge troubleshooting here, I'll go through all of it, this is a really annoying problem and I'd like to get it resolved. Also would like to note I tried putting r_decals 0 both before and after I typed the playdemo command. It also crashes when using the demo_gototick command in console without the demoui.
"This update destroyed the demo playback. If you want to goto another tick in the demo, the demo stops playing and drop you to the main screen. If you watch the demo from tick 1, this is not happening. Console output: Host_Error: CL_PreserveExistingEntity: missing client entity 233." https://www.reddit.com/r/counterstr...counterstrike_source_and_other_source_engine/ Haven't tested.
I have the exact same problem and it's is infuriating having to watch a whole demo again just because you can't go back 1000 ticks or so. When I type in a number into the demo player and click goto the demo skips frqmes and gets really jumpy (almost like a scratched dvd) and then the demo closes with the same error showing in console that is shown above. Haven't been able to fix it yet, I suspect it's an issue with the latest css update, not 100% sure tho
Welcome to the life of a clan member. Regularly I'm handed 20 minute worth of demo in one file and they give a tick and end up having to watch from start to finish.
Hopefully a hotfix will come out shortly, by the community or by valve themselves. Anyway, thanks for the info guys.
Seems like they had this problem before: http://gitlitio.us/valve/source-sdk.../mp/src/game/client/cliententitylist.cpp#L385 Those cvars no longer exist though.
May be a silly question but are there any "media players" that would do the same thing that a demo playback in game would do? as in has anyone heard of a 3rd party software that allows you to watch demo's and allows you to do what you already cane with css demo player? if there is that seems the way to go for now for me at least.
Such a thing does not exist as far as I'm aware. Demos can only be played from within the same game /engine/ they were recorded in.
Is there a way to run an instance of an old version of css where demos worked properly on? Like a nonsteam client for example? Might be worth a shot?
I remember that on some CSS updates, older demos would brake and no longer load on CSS. It might be the same for non steam CSS.
Did anyone find a fix for this? When I google the error this thread comes up. Sorry for gravel digging or w/e its called.
well it's not a fix but it works pretty well, you can type demo_pauseatservertick 15000 for example if you wanted to go to tick 15000 and then you can type demo_timescale 500 first time it may only go to 6 times speed but if you type that command again it will fast forward more. In a few short moments you should be at how many ticks u wanted and then u can start watching the ticks at low speed or record it if you really need to go over every little bit of the demo. Maybe someone here does know of an actual fix though?
