I dreaded posting in this thread for a bad reason :'(

For a while, my computer has been acting up when I turn it on.

It will turn on, then turn off, this will happen a few times, sometimes It boots a bit more than before, then turns off.

I found a way around it to be to open the disc tray when I turn it on and it boots a bit more, this for some reason makes it boot up fully. (Has only worked once so far, which was today just before making this thread).

    PC Specs:

    GPU: GeForce GTX 770
    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz
Memory: 16.00 GB RAM (15.90 GB usable)
    Current Resolution: 1920 x 1080, 60Hz
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro
SSD: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB (40GB Free Space)
    HDD: WDC WD1003FZEX-00MK2A0 (1TB) (818GB Free Space)

One small thing to add, I use the computer for extensive rendering, and previously, I've somehow used the memory up to the point where it has said there is no more memory, and the computer began running slowly till I restarted it or shut down the programme. Only happened once, but the computer began to do this boot up problem much more frequently after this, making me think it may be a memory problem.

Whats your PSU? It sounds like power problem if it shuts down itself when you try to start it.

I wouldn't rely on the disk tray opening technique as it seems unrelated if it only been done once.

Next time it happens, Try disconnecting the mains and press the power button a few times to get rid of power that might be stored.
Then plug the mains and try starting it again.

How long have you had this build for? Maybe , not sure , if you've had it for a long time maybe try checking on cpu's thermal paste, also try resetting CMOS, my pc didnt want to start at all before but doing it fixed it, it will erase bios settings though, maybe try booting without the cmos battery in then if it starts just insert it back in, check your motherboard manual first though.. just my suggestion, but yes could be a power/psu problem, try using different power cable and outlet

Get a compressed Air spray can and spray inside the PSU might just be a thick coat of dust interfering with the connections.

you just need to spray through the fan grate no need to open it.

Have you checked boot order in BIOS? I had a similar problem a while back and the only fix I found was to change the boot order.
