What is "MIXING" or a "MIX"?

Basically its a team game and shud contain a "mixture" of random players of either 1 v 1, 2 v 2, 3 v 3 etc max is 6 v 6 on standard CSS "de_" maps.

There are two halves to a game, you play as T swap then play as CT. There are no rules in mixies (apart from using bugs such as defusing through walls and planting bomb in the water on A site on map de_inferno), you can camp, use any weapon you like etc, the only rule is to WIN!

Communication and team work is vital, thats what separates a good team from a bad team.

Mixing is only available to legit steam users.

    Mixing Words!

    1. In every map there are names of spots to help a team work together and communicate with each other, you will get to learn these names simply by mixing with others that have done it before.
    2. Server "On" or "OFF" - ON means you have a server to play on, OFF means you don't.
    3. LOW, MID, HIGH - these are skill levels. LOW is low skill, MID is mid skill etc.
    4. "Cu On" - This is the term used to confirm you are playing a mix at the end of a chat.
    5. "Mr" - this means Maximum Rounds, so mr 15 would be 15 rounds per half, a game on a mr 15 would need 16 rounds to win, Meaning, if you win all 15 rounds as CT, you only need to win 1 as T. The "MR" will vary depending on the config, so be sure to ask the other team how many rounds there are per half, germans like to play mr 12 for example.
    6. "IP" - IP address of server
    7. "pw" - Password to server
    8. "rr" - Restart Round
    9. "lo3" - Live on 3 seconds
    10. "nl" - Not live
    11. "pick" - A word for kill, players could say "im gonna try a pick at mid" meaning they are gonna try and go for a kill at mid.

    How To Get a Mix

There are various way to get a mix, but they all use the same method.

    1. Ask your friends! This is the easyiest and funniest way to get a mix.

    2. Bash Me - http://www.bashme.eu/, this is the most simple and easyiest way to get a mix.

2.1 Go to the site (link above) and click on the CSS picture, and a drop down menu will appear, then select your desired mix, whether it be 1 on 1, 2 on 2 etc.

    2.2 Click "Join Chat"

2.3 Enter your mix in the chat, "UK/ 5 V 5/ MID/ ON DD2" is used as an example here. You dont have to mention "UK" or the map "DD2 (de_dust2)" but its recommended so you get the mix you want. The way you advertise is up to you, as you can see by other players in the chat, they are many different formats you can use. You have to mention the number of players e.g 5 V 5, the skill e.g "MID" and whether your server is "ON" or "OFF", you will find it hard to get a mix without using these words.

On the right is a list of the players in the current chat.

2.4 Send your advertisement and it will show in the chat.

2.5 If you see a mix you like, remember the name of the player who sent it, in the example here "setfgfgj" is advertising a mix that I want to play. So, I find is name by scrolling down the player list on the right and click on his/hers name once. A drop down menu will appear with three options "whois" "query" "slap", click "query" and you can chat with that player.

2.6 Here is a typical chat for a mix, in this example its "BASHme-42317", its very easy, all you need to mention is yours or theres server IP and pw, sometimes you need to mention what map your playing, but some players dont care and you can sort it out in-game. Finish the conversation with "cu on" to confirm the mix! If you advertise your mix and someone replies, it will show in flashing red text in the name area next to "Status" and "#5on5.css", it will also make a sound when someone replies.

Do not spam the chat with the same advertisement, otherwise you will get kicked/banned from the chat, if you want to spam the chat, change the format of your advertisement, e.g change "5 v 5 mid on dd2" to "5v5/mid/on/dd2", the server will not see it as spam. If you do get banned or kicked, just start again from point number 2. and you can rejoin the chat.

There are other ways to get mixies, like using programs such as "mIRC", but they are more complicated and once your banned, your banned for a week. However, all use the same method, shown above.

    Admin Guide

    This is quite simple.

    1. Restart the server often and reload map before every war.
    2. Open admin menu -> Activate config -> Use config: esl5on5
    3. Admin menu -> Live on 3 (LO3)

Note: You need to do step 3 before both halfs (CT and T)

    Tactics/Strategic Play

Here are some recommended basic tactics you should use and follow to improve your teamwork and skill level

    - CT -
    1. First rule: ALWAYS buy kit. It should be the first thing you buy. Your main goal as CT is to protect bombsites and defuse bomb if planted.
    2. First three (3) rounds, it is reccomended they you dont buy ANYTHING (except kit).
    3. Hold positions (VERY IMPORTANT) and try and get a pick. (terrorist will probably buy up third round, so if you manage to win that round, they will have no money in round 4 and you will have around 6000$)
    4. Positions. When playing a 5on5 (the most common mix) there should be 2 players defending A site (short and long), 2 on B site and 1 on Mid. Remember, terrorist have to plant the bomb, so they will have to push you. CT's do not push and leave the site unless you have to!!
    5. Calls/Communication is also very important as CT. You need to keep each other updated, and help each other. This is a team effort! It doesnt matter if you die, as long as your team is winning (stats aren't important).

    - Always buy kit
    - Dont buy anything three first rounds
    - Hold positions. You dont want a hero.
    - Help each other. Use your mic!

    - T -
    1. One(!!!) person should be calling tactics every round. Everyone else MUST follow these orders, otherwise you have a confused, unorganised team, which is an immediate disadvantage (if the caller tells you to scratch his ass, you scratch his ass). If you are the caller, make quick decisions before its too late otherwise your team is left stranded.
    2. Rushing together is very important. NO ONE should stop running during a rush, no matter if you're flashed, meet lots of enemies or whatever. Keep running!
    3. Dont buy anything first 3 rounds (Unless the caller says to do so).

    - One caller
    - Rushing
    - Stick together
    - Dont buy first 3 rounds (Unless caller tell you to)

These are the most basic tactics when it comes to Mixing/War. The most important thing is to play a lot of matches with different players. Playing with or against players who are better than you, will vastly improve your skill and standard of play!

Hope this Guide helps!!! HF & GL!

I hope you guys don't mind me asking, but why did you guys make a tutorial about mixes?

Plus, it wouldn?t hurt having in there that mix is the same as scrim, that?s what they call them in USA and Iceland, at least.

Nah everyone knows what a mix is + we wont be mixing agiainst americans, pings wud be too high.

To help people who want to learn how to mix or people who are having trouble with mixing. Alot of admins are getting into mixing and its easyier to make a permenant more informative guide then to chat on steam.

"There are no rules in mixies (apart from using bugs such as defusing through walls and planting bomb in the water on A site on map de_inferno)"

That's only for official leagues. Not mixes.

    Very well written!!
