How should we do this?

  1. Random teams

    44.4%
  2. Sign up as a premade 5

    24.4%
  3. Random teams that get mixed up after every round

    46.7%

Last vote we did for this was 2 years ago so I want to hear what the community thinks now.

See the poll, vote, give ideas and things will happen maybe.

    Random teams = fairer
Premade teams = you might get trashed but at least you are with friends
New teams every knockout stage = keeps it interesting and you might luck your way to the final

With random teams each round we can prioritize consistent skill (teamwork included ofc) and working with as many people as possible, and then use my favorite thing in the entire universe (math!!!) to seed people into finals and such.

I originally voted for just random teams but I think it would switch things up if they were scrambled. That being said, wouldn't it just make things confusing after every round? Maybe after each match would make more sense, and be easier to control.

When its a big tourny like this with many players, I think its more about fun than "winning". Ofcourse winning is fun but losing can be funny too. With premade teams everyone would be serious and all. I think the 3rd option is the best. Cant blame nobody for losing :p

Tourneys should always put fun first, especially if there's no entry fee.

What if entrants had to split the cost of a month's payadmin though?

I think just random teams are the best personally, signing up as a 5 man can be to OP as previously mentioned. With random teams it can be a good thing for players from different servers to actually come together and get to know one another, also I think even though the winning aspect should not be as big to some people as having fun. With that being said, this is a tournament and the whole point of the medals and shit on the forums is to decipher who is the best out of the players.

How about not only do such events, let's do something "extraordinary" - rap battles, etc. Only thought about that, maybe someone else has an "extraordinary" idea

What we can conclude with the pool is that people are not a big fan of premade teams.
Random teams that we stick with will be the best. IMO. Less of a chance and more about team play. Changing after every round(match) is too random and too much hassle. Its easier to randomize it once and stick to that. It's hard to randomize mid-tournament. There will be many delays and pauses to fix teams etc. To conclude.
It will take a lot of time and effort to mix teams after every match! @Steezy

I would say it'd be more luck dependent to have only one fixed team because you basically roll it once and can get stuck with a bad team or get carried hard by a good team. With random teams each round you could determine each player's individual performance using either true skill or some simplified point system, but it would be based on several random events which even out chances better than one random decision putting all the good players on one team for example.

Random teams every stage but with premade groups based on ranks

So each team will be balanced. For exemple :

    Group 1 = nova 4 or more
    Group 2 = silver 4 to nova 3
Group 3 = no rank to silver 3

The team will be composed by :
1 random player from group 1.
2 random players from group 2.
2 random players from group 3.

Like this , it will be funny , random and balanced matches , so we dont have an already known result matches.

Prize : medal for the best player on final ( Score , mvp then kills , death )
Or month of payadmin , great skin of same value ( I can support by paying for these)

The skill gap for "Group 1" is way to vast, but I like the concept.
