Is this still a thing? Uh. Having a blacklist of console commands is not the brightest idea. People could just rename the command and recompile the cheat. In fact, I think you don't even need the source code. You could peak into the read-only section of the binary where speed.toggle is stored as a string and change the byte sequence. Of course, that's what a pro would do. Your typical pleb who downloads cheats off the internet would get detected like this Kazuma desu kid did. I'm also surprised devs who distribute cheats haven't bypassed SMAC's command filter. As if they are unaware or don't care. I remember when I and @Nomy wrote this script. It was meant to silence trolls who tried to trick other people into entering the command and getting banned. I am going to throw in the suggestion of turning off SMAC's command filter and therefore getting rid of that silencing script. as I said it's just a command one can rename abusive - can get innocent players banned / silenced there's a SMAC speedhack module anyway (I don't know how effective it is. It's based around player latency)
Actually SMAC's command filter has helped a lot over the years. There are commands that lag or crash the server. People still join with dated hacks and get detected for it. Yea there are ways to modify the cheat but nobody does that in reality. Looking at the server logs, there are plenty skiddies who just use a dated hack as they come. Also there is a way to tell if the detection is triggered by cheat or if the player just wrote it on console. I won't get into details here. I think the problem is that people actually send this sole command to get players banned, they do it over another medium rather than say on server chat. This can be seen in the screenshot and the unban thread. We use nearly all SMAC modules and I don't think we will be removing SMAC from CS:S servers. Thanks for the suggestion though. I might actually get rid of the reason output rather than allow players with hacks.
Been there done that...twice https://hellclan.co.uk/threads/22312/ https://hellclan.co.uk/threads/24032/
