Hi I am merlot, real name Matthias, but we won't talk about that... I'm soon to be the wrong side of 30, have a 3 year old daughter who is the best thing in the world and I restore cars for a living, specifically early water-cooled VW's, my favourite being the supercharged Polo G40 (I've owned 3). I'm a veteran of the game having played it since 2006, but alas I am still terrible at it My spare time I have is usually spent on the jailbreak server since some time last year, I have been a lurker on here also but thought I may as well make an account too (don't ask me why ) and can now participate in this side of the community too. I would like to begin to learn how to build maps for CS:Source so if anyone can help with that please let me know
Hey mate, enjoyed playing in game with you so far! Can I ask what is about old polos that you like over the new generations?
Hello, Welcome to the forums! For mapping here are some tutorials: https://www.tophattwaffle.com/tutorials/ https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Your_First_Map
Yeah its been a right laught at times! Well I guess I just really like their simplicity, things like the fact that on the 1980s mk2's you can actually stand inside the engine bay with the engine still mounted to do work on stuff. Admittedly they can be randomly unreliable turds at times but the fact you can just fix them yourself with a normal set of tools makes up for that. I once replaced the gearbox of a mk2 in a layby on the A6 coming back from the Polo show.
Ah that's a very valid point the electrical systems in newer generations makes that sort of thing impossible ahhaha!
Hello merlot , welcome to the forums Just wanna say that i always enjoy my time playing with you and that's why i steam added you from the first time we played together , god bless you and your beloved family ❤️
