I think filter is ahead of us, we don't know many things about earth or moon not to mentor whole universe. We don't know we might have reached something greater already and discovered all the secrets of the universe billbions and billions of years ago but the universe has died and now it developed new life, and we are still trying to solve the sercrets and reach unknown, truth is at the end universe will die no matter what we do no matter where we move. Universe is one big explosion and at the end it will go down and will blow again or disappear forever.
I'd like to think the filter was behind us but then if we give idiots power to launch nuclear weapons then we are defo behind the filter.

Or scenario 3, the universe is so vast that intelligent life simply hasnt explored our microscopic region of it.
I think we are in the lucky planet or universe if we are in the lucky planet then something will happen in the future if it wont happen to us then it will happen for other people who will born after we all grow and die.
Fermi Paradox. So those "intelligent life" are less than type 1 civilization. We are type 0.7 civilization right now. This still means bad news. It just means there is a great filter ahead of us. Maybe civilizations are somehow destroyed when they reach type 1 civilization. Man, I just want us to reach type 3. Just say we are behind the filter.

Of course. The scientific method is limited by nature, it's prone to errors. The "great filter" is just a concept or theory part of Fermi paradox. They also made great videos on that.
