Microphone sounds bad in CSS

    It's been happening for about a week now. My mic works good in any game except css. Any idea why and how can i fix it ?

    I Think I get the same problem, I don't understand it though.
    I Think everyone's mic just sounds shitty in C:SS

    It's just because css uses horrible voice codec. Most of the usb headsets/mics work fine

    You are replying like a week late and CS:S already had a newer codec in yesterday's update. I think mics from most of the players have improved under the CELT codec.

    Peoples mic are robotic and static now. How is this an improvement?

    I'm not sure about robotic. Unless they are deliberately speaking in monotone. For the static part I think you mean white noise? Well that is always been there, Speex was so bad that it muddled up the white noise with the actual speech. Now it's higher quality you can hear it separate from their speech.
