https://gyazo.com/9ca80b110dc3d3559cce7743cc477930 I don't really know what to do about this, haven't really seen anything like it online at any point. It's a HP Pavilion 15.6 Inch AMD A6. Any suggestions? I might have to reapply Thermal Paste is what i'm thinking :/
The vent might need to be cleaned. It's not easy to disassemble laptop to reapply thermal paste btw. You can buy those air dusters and try clearing the vent with that. But the best is to disassemble the laptop and manually cleaning the dust, you might have to reapply thermal paste anyway in this case.
Yeah i was thinking that was the most likely thing i would need to do. It's a pain to disassemble laptops because everything's so tightly pput together
Dont dismantle the hp pavilion. I have one dismantle. But cant put it together as one power clip fastner thing broke :S. Any tips?
Yeah i did it previously, it's a bitch to pull apart tbh, i just ended up getting the computer store to do it last time @aniq
sometimes cleaning is not enough. Not sure about that model, but I had to replace entire heatsink (not just the vent) in my HP Elitebook last month as it was overheating / making noises. I had to take it apart entirely as the heatsink is under every god damn thing in there. good luck.
Is it hot to the touch, or just in the programs? because there are a lot of programs that read the sensors correctly, you might want to try other programs to read the temp. If its 143C* it should be shut down, if not even melted by the time you get to that temperature. Dont stresstest a laptop, usually they cant handle it properly and start slowing down the CPU to remove some of the temerature. If this is in games, then its a problem. But this is IMO tho.
@MiiX When touching it you can feel the heat, but nothing that is anywhere near the temperature being read. I have noticed a performance issue when using it as of recent, hense why i tested the temperature to see if it was the cause, which i believe it to be causing a downgrade in performance
@elite- : You might wanna try another sensor program like Open Hardware Monitor or RealTemp. Check what they report and report back, I dont believe it keeps 120C...
If all else fails you can get a laptop cooler which you can put your laptop on when you're using it. It'll help cool it down somewhat but won't remedy the issue
This is the two programs next to each other. I think the CPUID has exaggerating the temperature of the CPU.... Just maybe (rofl) @MiiX I think i trust the other one a bit more, it seems more reasonable. I've read that poeple often do receive higher temperatures with this model, so i think this might be normal??
Normally a system would shut down if the temperature reaches above CPU specs. Most motherboards trip after about 90 C on the CPU temps I think. 134 C is extreme.
Yeah I did think that, but I had seen online people with high temperatures so wondered if it was normal for the model, even though I understand if it reaches that high it should shut down or melt essentially
