Windows 10. Had some problems earlier with playing certain games on Windows 10 but a big patch fixed them all and now everything works pretty fine.

Windows 10 ruined my Razor Kraken Pro Mic. It's not as loud anymore on cs:s but it's fine on other games. No idea why...

You can turn it up in CSS options.

I'm not silly lol, I realise this. Both send and receive bars are all the way up! I used to have to put my mic about 3 inches away from my mouth. Since the upgrade from 8.1 to 10 I have to have my mic 1 inch away. It seems fine on other games which is the part I don't understand

    What about Microphone Boost?

Also you need to disable the lowering of sound when you get an alert:

CSS selects the mic source from windows. So whatever is set to default in your recording devices will be the one used for mic. Make sure its not some built in mic or some webcam mic as default.

@Nomy Increasing the Microphone boost seemed to of done the trick. It doesn't seem to sound static like the last time I tried it. I'll see how it goes over the next few days

@PASi Yeah, my mic from the upgrade goes loud then quite even when I don't touch the settings. Strange isn't it? Maybe this mic boost increase will fix it!

Increasing my Microphone boost makes everyone hear my hard drive static noise, I can't have that as it's irritating for them all...

I don't like the calendar/clock widget looking tray on Windows 10. It doesn't show when daylight savings time begins etc...

Here is how to get Win7 looking time tray back on Windows 10.

Start > Type regedit and hit enter
    Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell
Right click and make a new DWORD 32-bit and name it: UseWin32TrayClockExperience
    Set the value to 1.

    Result:

Sorry for this irrelevant bump but recently I have been thinking to upgrade to Windows 10 from 8.1. I just want to know if it's worth it,
If possible could you please list some pros and cons for updating?

Thinking this was the most related thread to post in. Thanks :')

Sooner or later you will have to upgrade to Windows 10... I jumped on the early bandwagon and I'm not regretting it.
Microsoft will stop supporting older OSes... Like what happened to Windows XP...except windows 8.1 might have a lot of time left for that to happen.

I don't think Windows 8.1 will be getting DX12. You are already familiar with Windows 7 and 8.1. Windows 10 is just the best of both worlds.

Just make sure to disable the spyware that comes enabled at the install.

Ok thanks Nomy, I'll probably update this weekend when I have some free time. I've never really liked windows 8 that much compared to windows 7 I've just never felt the need to downgrade back to windows 7. So I guess I'll just get windows 10 as you said it's the best of both worlds.

There's one question I do have, for such programs I have on my PC that I have had a while, will these need to be installed again on a windows 10 version or should this automatically happen?

Not when I upgraded. Windows 10 is the best OS I've used tbh after the last patch.

I use windows 10, I'm not the most technical person but I feel it's very user friendly. Quite happy with it!

No reinstall of programs are required. If you have an AntiVirus program installed it can get buggy and you might wanna reinstall that.
