I think we should use Cauldron (formerly mcpc+) since we are indeed talking about mods and cauldron allows you to create servers with mods and also plugins which i think would be the best since craftbukkit is just dying EDIT:Scratch that it was taken down too
Where is the link to Cauldron? The one on google is offline. This is what a dead project looks like OpenSource projects hardly "die". Someone else will take over and soon builds will start coming out. https://storify.com/lukegb/the-tale-of-bukkit-for-minecraft-1-8
Factions - You create your own clan/team within the game, build bases together, fight other teams and also raid other clans bases. Also you can claim land in which others can not destroy any blocks unless apart of your faction. If you're going to use this i'd highly suggest being able to open enemy chests in their territory so it allows for you to raid their stuff and people to raid yours. Im not sure on the other mod but it allows you to explode obsidian (an unbreakable material without a diamond pick usually) with TNT and cannons that you make with TNT. I think with a community like so this would be the best feature to have if you do decide to create a minecraft server.
Useless imo since almost for sure tnt and creeper block destroying will be disabled at least at building phase Read the edit but i doubt cauldron is dead i got a update from it after Microsoft bought minecraft i could just give you that install but its on my dead old laptop along with all the other stuff (plugins, mods i've tried etc.) so yeah i guess the minecraft server idea didn't come at the right time but still mods are being updated and all that if there is no cauldron there will be a replacer soon enough that or minecraft just dies (just my opinion dont go crazy with the last line) since its the only way to run forge bukkit servers
Been looking myself at mods and plugins and I was just wondering, if you are able to get the bukkit download off someone, could we use it to run on the server?
you can get a bukkit download from website but they are development builds and running on 1.7.10 which i think its how the server should run on for now imo, but you do know bukkit doesn't run mods right? --- Double Post Merged, Oct 3, 2014, Original Post Date: Oct 3, 2014 --- just found this guyz http://sourceforge.net/projects/cauldron-unofficial/files/1.7.10/ its legit has they say here http://www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeast/comments/2fm2bs/cauldron_1710_installer/ grab the libraries file too from there
We need not worry about running mods on a server and that new people won't be able to join. It will mostly be regulars so there can be a tutorial where people are given links to a list and downloads for all the mods there.
Could we trial the mods then vote for them because I just don't think its necessary to have so many, especially the ones which change the game so dramatically
I agree with that and i've set up a Cauldron server with some basic plugins such as essentials multiverse mcmmo world edit Curently it hás pixelmon mod bcus i was testing the new release
Why not just a simple minecraft server with a few basic plugins before we get into all the complicated stuff.. You never know people may not like all the complicated mods/plugins, I know I don't.
Oh well opinions i guess i really like mods specially if they are still in progress of development and new things are getting added and all that
Minecraft itself gets boring quickly imo. I don't like it for it's its original goal anymore, which is to survive. I'd rather play Minigames on it like TNT spleef.
I like the idea of a community server where people can take a section of the world (or a biome to themselves) and interact with each other.
Just like Minecrack and Hermitcraft, @WildFire? They play been as a community for years and show no sign of getting bored one bit. I know we aren't youtubers but we can still play like that, friendly jokes and laughs.
