How to maximize your FPS in Counter Strike: Source

First of all, a lot of players probably has everything on high and stuff to get the Sweetest looking in-game graphics. But, those things can eat your FPS really much! And low FPS can make you lag. So to get your FPS lower, and still have graphics on highest, you have to do these few things:

First of all, go into your Video options, Advanced.
Vertical sync; why? It's not useful in games such as Counter Strike. Trust me, you won't notice the difference.
Disable Color correction: Why? Same reason as vertical sync
Disable Motion Blur: Why? You don't need it, it's lame an unuseful. You won't notice the big difference on this either.
Bloom effect: Don't use it, wont do anything to your graphical view in-game. You won't notice any difference.
High Dynamic range: Put it on none. Pretty much same reason as the others. You won't notice any difference in gameplay graphics.

These are some few steps you can take, that will increase your FPS with 50 to 70 or maybe more, depends on your PC. I'm pretty sure there's a lot more things to do, and if there is, your welcome to add them!

    Greetings Damage.

EDIT: To view your FPS and such, type in "Net_graph 1" in your console. Don't use Net_graph 3 as It might cause you to get kicked from Pub and War servers.

All these things above is on the purpose ONLY to maximize your FPS. Everything above CAN be discussed. I myself, and few other Scrimmers like to have it like this, as It gives you a smooth gameplay.

Yeh lol. I dont understand why people say stuff like "You wont notice the difference", Everything you turn off makes your game look worse (graphically).

To improve your ping as the title says, you need to have some sort of traffic shaping.

    I recommend using this: http://localhostr.com/file/IDyPTef/ROGGameFirst.zip

An alternative for this software is cFosSpeed

I got that software from my motherboard so I don't know if it will install for you but if it does you can test your ping :)

It will lower your latency 7-10ms in-game. So if you get 30 you might get 20-23, depends...

You can also change the mode to allow high tcp count or speed etc... and ofcourse you can disable the traffic shaping whenever you feel like it.

Good thing about traffic shaping is when your gaming, this windows updates will download alot slower giving your game the priority over the windows updates or any other application using internet on your PC. No more lag :)

Some good routers have this feature built in but if doesn't on yours, this software is way to go.

Most of us have good graphics so those setting you mention don't really make any difference...

Title should be "How to Maximize your FPS!" not ping.

Though Nomy has that covered in his post here.

Nice from both. I dont really have many problems with either so im good.

I'm afraid youre right about one thing nomy, its not recommended for other hardwares, than the ones your using. If you're trying to install this you'll get a message: Installation can not commence, because produkt is only licensed for selected hardware!

The reason I have HDR and BLOOM off is because I use max brightness so I can see ppl Hiding in shadows or dark corners and with HDR and Bloom on it blinds me lol

HDR is Hidden Path Entertainment's way of "livening up" css's graphics and trying to keep the game modern looking despite the fact it's the most popular fps out there, and is still as popular 7 years after release...

Sometimes i'll never understand them :p
