I have couple of suggestions towards Hell's Discord channel to make it more lively, (bit of background; i've been using discord since its beta and am admin of 3 discord with each of them having between 50ppl+ and i want to use my experiences to give my advice to imrpove disord a bit and make it more interactive and alive). Things that needs improvements: - Reduce number of voice channels, (recommand 3-4 e.g. General, LFG, random, Staff) - Make 4 text channels, (lock 1 so only staff can edit; that be the rules section. General, Memes, NSFW) - Add more Roles (Hell Staff, PA, memeber [genreal memebers that are part of forums]) - Advertise it more, so more ppl know about it, Discord is very interactive and make communites interact more with eachother and sociable. Bots & Other Stuff: I HIGHLY recommand a bot called "Mee6" (https://mee6.xyz/) The levels makes the chat more interactive and shows most active memebers on discord, custom commands are fun aswell but require bit more knowlege to set them up. TIP: if you have a bot make sure u make a text channel for "bots" and only enable it there so it reduces spam in main chats.
Thanks for the advice but I have a few things to say: Each game basically has its own voice channel, having 1 voice channel for multiple games wont be such a good idea. I don't see the need for multiple text channels. I cant see any use of extra text channels. HeLL Staff role already exists. PayAdmin role is a good idea but I doubt it will be sync'd or updated with the website. Member role is also a good idea but again I don't see anyone adding and syncing Members from website to Discord roles. Definitely. It's added to server list, maybe I'll advertise on website from time to time.
I have seen other forums with a discord section, e.g like the shoutbox. Where you can have a short preview of the discord app and also join it just by clicking on it. I wonder if that could be added, would be nice.
I agree with all of it. I think we should evolve the voice server to get with the times. The very few discords I'm in they are set out like this. Too many channels, too much separation for the people that use it.
also use this bot, it has its own external website to handle things (Dyno), have ur own commands and auto roles (timed for example you can make user have to be in discord chat for atlest 20min untill they get a role that allows them to post image in main chat). have your own music streamer with diffrent playlists (from youtube, soundcloud... ect) and my fav, custom commands. find out more on dis site about the commands and other stuff and see if u like it https://www.dynobot.net/commands
im not sure, with channel im using this on, we tend to use youtube playlists as it auto adds them in, there prob is a bot out there that can prefrom this action.
There are many bots out there and many tutorials to make your own. I had a look into it and had a fully working music bot in a few hours which I ran off my PC. Wasn't very economical but was just a bit of fun
And someone with programming skills like Nomy or few HeLL members, can make awesome bots from scratch.
https://discordapp.com/developers/applications/me, very esay; if you have VB you can use the popular Discord.NET API which is out there (C#). --- Double Post Merged, Jun 28, 2017, Original Post Date: Jun 28, 2017 --- you can also write in Python as i have a feeling Nomy is a huge fan of that
We've added a couple bots to Discord. If we find some useful ones we'll look at adding more. Some people have been levelling up their roles already. https://discord.gg/AfRgqr5
THEIR* The discord is quite pleasant, people are getting along well. I don't really see a purpose to the roles though, it should give some sort of bonus (like letting me ban people )
They're there solely for the purpose of feeling more important than everyone below you Also so your name is higher up in the members list Edit: 300th forum post yay
