CS:S Update Incoming

    We're working on a mandatory update for Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, Half-Life Deathmatch: Source, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, and the Source SDK 2013 Base. The notes for the update are below. We're aiming to ship this in a few hours.

    This update is based on the build currently available on the prerelease branch.

    - Improved Steam Voice support
    - Removed sv_use_steam_voice convar. Steam voice is now selected via "sv_voicecodec steam"
    - Fixed demos not properly recording Steam Voice status, resulting in potential corrupt voice in demos with differing default settings
    - Will now use the native Steam Voice sampling rate, instead of clamping to 11kHz
    - Improved compatibility with Steam client beta
    - Added CELT audio codec currently in use in TF2 and CS:GO
    - Server operators may enable use of this codec via "sv_voicecodec vaudio_celt"
    - Steam voice remains the default voice codec in all SDK2013 games
    - Updated spec_player command to match recent improvements in TF2
    - Now accepts partial player names, Steam IDs, etc.
    - Fixed security issue reported by Amat Cama via GeekPwn
    - Fixed security issues reported by Justin Taft from One Up Security, LLC
    - Updated engine with recent stability and bug fixes from TF2
    - Updated handling of game language setting to match Team Fortress 2 behavior:
    - Steam per-game language setting is now properly honored and syncs with the in-game setting
    - In-game UI language now honors above language setting, rather than improperly using the Steam client's UI language setting
    - Users wishing to have separate UI and audio languages may pass -audiolanguage on the command line
    - Updated the localization files
    - [DoD:S] Updated custom loading error dialog to include numerous tweaks and fixes that have previously been applied to the base version

    Quite remarkable that they still roll out patches for old source games, even if it's just minor upgrades.

    Does that mean there will be better mics in source or am I just being naive? :tmi:

    Apparently after the update non steam users cannot hear people on microphone is there a way to fix this its important

    After the update , I get higher fps(little increase) and the voice quality has improved a lot

    JB: After the update some people cant hear anyone talk on mic and are heard by nobody. Others (myself included) have working mic and can hear all voicechat (except of those who have the issue). Seems to be non-steam CSS ...
    Edit: non-steam guy with prop reports current version of CSS

    Another issue after the update: taking warden has a delay untill you spoke for half a second. The laserbeam and lr-beacons are sometimes invisible. @Rory did u record it?
    Has the server been updated to the new version?

    The server was updated last night.

    There is a newer voice audio codec called Celt which is to be tested by non steam players.
    I will be changing the codec to Celt and giving server a restart. If this doesn't work, then we might have to change to older lowest quality voice codec.

    But the laser and lr is from SM, how is this interfered by audio codec?

    I don't think its related to that. That's a separate issue.

    Ok, the CELT codec works for everyone and its better than the older SPEEX codec but still not as good as Steam but we will leave it CELT.

    I can't reproduce the laser beam and beacon problem. They seem to work fine while I was on.

    This sort of problems are hard to fix. I'd much rather it didn't work at all and threw an error instead. If you get more info on this problem, please let me know here. Right now all I know is that the lasers doesn't work in certain angle and when the warden moves or shines it in a different angle to previous, it suddenly works.

    Also are the beacons working?

    Is there a chance steam codec will work eventually. I would guess the people who make non steam would have to work on it? Would be nice to have the better voice chat.

    I doubt it. Only codecs that ship with the game works for them.

    The issue with !lr beacons is this- Usually you get a directional 'lightning line' showing you where your opponent is. This appears maybe only 50% of the time now.
