How would you all feel about a Minecraft server being available to the community? But ONLY if there is enough intrest in it. Right now there is so many mods and plugins, that I wouldn't mind some suggestions of what would like to been seen, so far I've been told of a bukkit mod called Towny which personally I think looks pretty good. There is a poll just to see interest of how many of you would like to play once again on a minecraft server with the community! If you would suggest a mod/plugin with a description of the mod and what's good about it, it would help a lot! Thanks! This will help to decide what mod/plugins are chosen.
would be great Couple of plugins id suggest are, mcmmo - allows leveling up in skills and benefits the higher you are economy, idk if thats the exact name but allows currency and such logblock - anti grieving/rollback plugin
Defo would be interested actually i should have talked with nomy about something related to a minecraft server which is that me and a couple of friends have started building a server for pixelmon mod which basicly adds pokemons to minecraft we have built a couple of cities with gyms pokecenters pokemarts etc. the mod it self is a bit heavy for lowend pc's but their making effords to optimize it to the max, i just never actually talked about it cus we were a team of 10 builders with not that much of a building experience and school was always getting in the way and it went active i think with the help of the community i could bring this project to life again this is if we go foward with the server and this is the mod chosen, i can show you what we've done to the map, we had a few more things but i fucked up a backup and we lost some stuff not that important tho, only problem is that its in my old pc that died need to move from that hard drive to this pc but the map has a few Gb's already its gonna take a while. Besides all of this with this server and mod i know a bit about plugins and how to configure them so gimme a shout and i'll help (atm im playing cracked tho so if u want me to work on the server before its launched u need to allow cracked players ) BTW @Mousey currency is on the essential plugin pack not a separate plugin
@Myles Like miner level higher you have faster you mine --- Double Post Merged, Sep 30, 2014, Original Post Date: Sep 30, 2014 --- The "its a must" list essentials core and groupmanager maybe for a better management of permissions and groups if there is going to be payadmins on the server too world edit multiverse (depending on the game mod the server will be but will almost certainly be usefull)
we did but it was a way to basic server imo and yes it was hard to keep it updated but this time its gonna be myles to take care of it (or planning to be) and we can just lend a hand
I'd like to help Myles run and maintain the server too. I would highly suggest the YogsCast complete pack. The only disadvantage to it is that it requires at least 6GB to run efficently. Currently I have 4GB on my PC so it goes a bit jerky and crashes. If not, the essential mods I would like: -Ars Magica 2 (magical mod, you'll have to look into it, it's extremely versatile and quite good.) -Buildcraft ( Machinery like quarries that dig large areas for you ) -Reimini map ( Really good mini map that can be showed as a large map you can scroll over ) -BiomesOplenty is a MUST. It generates hundreds of new biome types. I'd insist on that. - Chisel (Changes the look of certain boxes, gives you the option of around 12 designs) - Carpenters Blocks (same as above) -DrZharks Mo Creatures Mod (New types of creatures and dangerous mobs) -Dart Craft (Too broad to speak about but opens a path to new tools and weapons that you can upgrade) -Galacticraft (Abillity to go to space and visit planets like moon and mars.) -Myst craft (It's quite power requiring of a server because it generates new "worlds" you can create portals with using books but it's really fun) - Not Enough Items is a MUST ( Gives you the ability search items on hundreds of pages and can show you how to make things with recipes and what stuff is used for) - ruins ( Creates dungeons and ruins that are really fun ) - Tinkers Construct (Highly suggest this because you can create custom weapons and tools that you can upgrade. It really is worth getting) - Thaumcraft (Too broad to talk about, you would have to see it.) - Thaumic Tinkerer (same as above) - Twilight forrest (Generates a new world that is really pretty and has fun dungeons and biomes in it. I would recommend it definitely.) -Witchery another magical type mod that adds cool possibilities with rituals and new mobs. Will add more if I think about it.
Some of those mods require each user to download stuff dont they? Like buildcraft? Id be pretty against having those kinda mods, I think they are unneccasary to have a good sever. Other than that idk if its neccasary to have so many but probs fun to try out
For the YogsCast pack, there's a program called ATlauncher, similar to the normal MC launcher but you can click "instances" and add the YogsCast pack and then it will take 5 minutes to download it all and let you configure which mods you can enable/disable. So it wouldn't be that hard to do. The benefits and enjoyment outweigh the negatives IMO, the only concern would be the server lag from multiple worlds being generated.
Minecraft just died, and ya'll missed it. RIP Craftbukkit. After the Minecraft 1.8 update, Mojang screwed over the modding community by adding an EULA enforcement. Before Microsoft bought Mojang, Mojang added an EULA enforcement which meant that they own ALL the MC mods including Craftbukkit, leading to the 90% of the Craftbukkit admins abandoned the project. All the downloads for any mods are now targeted by the DMCA take downs because Mojand are pricks. http://tay.kotaku.com/craftbukkit-hit-by-dmca-by-none-other-than-one-of-their-1630446690 This includes all other alternatives like Spigot.
The link contains article on DMCA take down... Its normal sometimes developers tend to become assholes and attack the projects with DMCA take down tbh... Look what happened to SMAC for example. I don't see anything saying 90% abandoning the project though?
Sorry, forgot to link the bukkit forum post, here is a list of all the staff/teams who quit. http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/an-independent-goodbye.310086/ Only a few members stayed behind including the owner of Bukkit to try and pick up the pieces but even they agree that its hopeless.
