    Hey there.
So I go this problem since 3-4 Months now and it's quite annoying. Whenever i play CSS, the game would randomly freeze. Like, the screen freezes completely and the sound repeats itself quickly. Most of the time i can still go to Taskmanager and quit the game. But sometimes i don't and i have to restart the Laptop.
When i do nothing at all, the game usually closes and i get this:
Translation: the nvidia driver has stopped working and recovered...

I've already formatted my laptop but problem is still there. Google says drivers are not the problem. I have this since the 2 latest NVIDIA drivers. :/
I found out that the problem could be heat. So i bought a cooling pad for laptops but it's still happening. :( No idea what to do anymore :/ I seriously start to think my graphics card is possibly broken. It only happens when playing a game. Not when browsing. Anyone had / has this or knows a solution? Thanks!

Yes, thanks @Lux. I've already seen this and nothing of this seems to help.
When I try to do this:
    Windows Vista or Windows 7
    1. Click "Start"
    2. Type cmd and press Enter
    3. Type bcdedit and press Enter
    4. Look under the "Windows Boot Loader" section for an entry titled"increaseuserva". Make note of the value in the right column next toincreaseuserva in case you wish to restore this entry later.
    5. If it exists, type bcdedit /deletevalue increaseuserva and press Enter. The message "The operation completed successfully" should appear.
    6. Reboot your system to apply the change.
    it tells me:
The memory for the startingconfiguration couldn't be opened.
    Access denied.

    1) Click Start
    2) type cmd and right-click on cmd.exe then click on Run as Administrator
    3) Continue with original instructions beginning with Step 3.

Thanks, didn't help tho. There is no entry called "increaseuserva". I will start to work on some solutions beginning with cleaning up the hardware as dust may be the problem.

I have a feeling your GPU might be broken. Especially when you say your game crashes with sound repeating. And when your system needs to be restarted instead of force closing the game.

What is the make of your Laptop and what is your GPU?

Try and increase your page pool memory, also try and set the IG option: "Page Pool Memory" to Low or Medium (I know L4D2 has this option.). I can't help in full detail, on phone atm.

    Heya.
    My laptop:
    DELL XPS 15
    Windows 7 Home premium
    8GB RAM (7,9 used)
    Intel Core i7-2760QM CPU @ 2.40 GH
    64 Bit
    NVIDIA Geforce 540M

The game crashed thrice today so far in playing 4 hours of CSS.
That's how it looks like shortly after the game crashes:

Okay, done. But since it also happened with other games (only played LoL and CSS recently, so dont know about the others) i dont think it has something to do with css specificly?

That error you are showing in the screenshot is source engine specific.
