So i've noticed long demos being a problem, both to download and to load up, etc etc, admins are being lazy (except for some exceptions on the report section, and kudos to you who take the effort to download and look through those long demos) And the problem is, when trying to report spam/rule breaking of any sort, a lot of times you can't just start recording as soon as the person is breaking them or whatever, especially with freekillers, cheaters and scripters etc. So my question is, except for recording a video of the demo, is there any way to cut the demo's length? I've tried reporting cheaters before by recording a bunch of demos and was told off for it, but when recording a long demo I also get told off or admins take a long time to reply (and only those who are not lazy reply in the first place). Does anyone know of any good way to do this? --- Double Post Merged, Jul 29, 2014, Original Post Date: Jul 29, 2014 --- By the way I noticed my post was misleading, I am in no means complaining about admins being lazy, I just mean that the current way people report is not optimal and was looking for a better way.
Most of my demos break, because I just leave it running for like 2 hours and when I try and watch it breaks :/
I don't know of such a tool but I tried to write one myself. Unfortunately the documentation of the demo format is very sparse and ambiguous so I didn't get very far.
Try not to record very long demos. Always compress them and upload to good hosts such as mega.co.nz / hostr.co Make sure you state the ticks when reporting a player. Makes it ten times easier to review.
you could just load up the demo and use fraps to record the parts where action happens, that's the best i can think of
Can someone give me a download link for fraps? I was using it before but I lost the file --- Double Post Merged, Jul 29, 2014, Original Post Date: Jul 29, 2014 --- and i can't find it on google, sorry
Every map change results in a new demo e.g If you started a demo called "bennevis" when a new map comes around that demo will stop and it will start a new one with the name "bennevis_2" then "bennevis_3" etc
This is why I hate demos D:< I'd rather just use dxtory and record it all and if shit doesn't go down, delete it.
I've never had a problem using demos to report someone even tho they're 20+ mins long... I just make sure to tell them the ticks to skip to... And same with dxtory, shit doesn't go down delete it...
